The Admission of Undergraduate Studies

Students accepted into colleges and institutions must be Iraqi nationals, possess a middle school diploma, pass a medical exam, and have graduated from the current academic year and the preceding academic year. Students who do not meet these requirements are not accepted centrally. Thus, it is impossible to mix study and work if he is an employee; he must get a study leave from his department to continue his studies. The institutes also accept students who have graduated from morning and evening vocational preparatory schools. As for the first 5% of vocational, morning, and evening undergraduates from each Iraqi level speciality, their admission to the colleges according to their specializations is handled centrally. The top 10% of students through central admission are also admitted to institutes in faculties according to their speciality.

General principles for central admission: The student is approved based on the 50 options listed on the application form, with no more than 35 colleges and fewer than 15 institutes allowed. Students with grade point averages below 60% are permitted to fill out the form with 50 selections, provided they are all institutes. Five points are deducted for each lesson in which the student achieved a passing grade in the second round and for students who improved their average in the second round, with a maximum deduction of 15 points.

The transfer mechanism from colleges with higher requirements to those with lower standards and vice versa: The first student in the first stage of the departments of life sciences, chemistry, pathological analysis, the Department of Biotechnology, and the Department of Applied Chemistry in the faculties of science and the first student in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine may transfer to the Faculty of Dentistry or the Faculty of Pharmacy. Submission requirements include the original preparatory study material and approval from the General Directorate of Education. Three recent photographs and a colour copy of the (Iraqi Nationality Certificate / Civil Status ID / Ration Card / Residence Card) is required. Form for medical examinations. A guarantee is issued in a form designed by the college's Legal Division. The documentation must include the sponsor's identity, a letter of continuity of service if the sponsor is an employee, and a letter of retirement confirmation if the sponsor is retired—sponsor attendance at the Legal Division.
