Babylon University Recognized as Iraq’s Top University in WURI 2026 for Innovation

Babylon University has achieved a new academic milestone by ranking first among Iraqi universities in the Korean WURI ranking, the World University Rankings for Innovation, which specializes in innovation and creativity for this year’s WURI 2026 edition of the world’s most innovative universities. The university also secured 185th place globally, in a development that reflects the qualitative progress it has made in the fields of innovation, education, scientific research, and community service.
The President of the University, Professor Dr. Amean Al-Yasir , affirmed that this achievement is the outcome of the continuous institutional efforts exerted by the university’s staff to develop its academic and scientific environment and strengthen its presence in reputable international rankings. He noted that Babylon University continues to embed a culture of innovation and transform knowledge into projects and initiatives that contribute to serving society and advancing sustainable development. Professor Dr. Amean Al-Yasir added that the university’s top position in Iraq in the WURI ranking reflects the scale of collective effort and integration among the colleges, research centers, and academic and administrative staff, emphasizing that the university has prioritized openness to modern global experiences and the development of educational programs in line with the requirements of the era and digital transformation.
For his part, the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mansour Al-Khafaji, stated that WURI is one of the global rankings specialized in measuring the extent to which universities contribute to innovation, social impact, and the quality of applied educational programs, as well as their ability to connect education with development needs and the labor market.
In recognition of this achievement, the President of the University praised the significant efforts made by the Office of the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, represented by Professor Dr. Mohammed Mansour Al-Khafaji, and the working team, whose high professionalism and dedicated efforts contributed to achieving this qualitative progress. He affirmed that this accomplishment reflects the growing academic standing of Babylon University and its ability to compete in international forums, in addition to its continued commitment to fostering an environment of innovation and academic excellence in line with the goals of development and institutional advancement.
