The President of the University of Babylon, Professor Dr. Amean Ajeel Al-Yasir praised the scientific assistant department, committee members, faculty, researchers, and graduate students for the university’s new achievement in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The university showed notable progress in most main ranking criteria compared to previous years, reflecting ongoing efforts to develop academic and research performance.
This year, the University of Babylon ranked in the +1501 category internationally and shared the third rank among Iraqi universities. It was also among 25 Iraqi universities that secured their positions, evaluated among 2,191 institutions from 115 countries.
The Times ranking assesses universities based on five main areas with 18 indicators: research quality (30%), teaching and learning environment (29.5%), research environment (29%), international outlook (7.5%), and industry income (4%). The achievement highlights the university’s vital role in elevating Iraqi higher education globally, supported by the “Study in Iraq” program aimed at attracting international students.
The university leadership affirmed this ranking results from continuous efforts to improve educational and research outputs and pledged to continue strategic plans to achieve higher future rankings
