Mohammed Reza Mohammed Taqi, a third-year medical student at the University of Babylon, achieved first place in Babyon Province and fifth place nationwide in Iraq in the 2025 National Reading Competition "A Nation Reads," organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and supported by the General Secretariat of the Holy Hussaini Shrine.
The National Reading Competition is a major sustainable cultural national initiative that aims to guide community members towards continuous purposeful creative reading, enabling them to acquire knowledge, apply it in various life fields, raise awareness about the importance of reading, empower generations with the keys to innovation, and support their national and humanitarian values. Its motto is: "We read to learn. We read to work. We read to advance. We read to confront."
The competition s objectives include cultivating a love for reading within society, fostering a conscious generation intellectually, doctrinally, and ethically equipped, and shaping a distinguished and creative generation capable of innovation and excellence across all life fields by acquiring and applying knowledge.
