The University of Babylon recently marked its 34th anniversary, celebrating over three decades of distinguished academic achievement, scientific advancement, and cultural enrichment. The university campus hosted a series of dynamic events that showcased its sustained commitment to educational excellence and societal development.
The anniversary ceremony was attended by a distinguished assembly including Professor Dr. Amin Al-Yasiri, President of the University, members of the university council, deans of various faculties, the head of the Babylon Academics Syndicate, as well as prominent figures from the local community, faculty members, students, and alumni. Their collective presence highlighted the strong sense of pride and unity within the university community.
In his keynote address, Professor Dr. Amin Al-Yasiri reflected on the university’s remarkable journey and its significant contributions across multiple disciplines. He underscored the university’s critical role in cultivating highly skilled graduates who have substantially contributed to societal progress. Dr. Al-Yasiri reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to maintaining academic excellence and leadership by continuously advancing its educational and research programs. He emphasized the university’s commitment to aligning with cutting-edge scientific and technological developments and enhancing its societal impact to promote sustainable development.
Professor Dr. Mohammed Mansour Al-Khafaji, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, presented a comprehensive overview of the university’s notable research accomplishments and their positive influence on the local community, the province, and the nation at large.
The celebrations culminated with the recognition of distinguished faculty and researchers for their outstanding contributions to the university’s prestige. The event also featured the inauguration of several exhibitions highlighting innovations and achievements in agriculture, industry, arts, and culture.
Established on April 25, 1991, the University of Babylon has expanded to include 20 colleges spanning scientific and humanities disciplines, alongside numerous research centers and academic departments. Over the years, it has achieved significant milestones on both national and international levels, establishing itself as a premier academic institution and a magnet for students across Iraq.
