In the vibrant celebration of the Iraqi Academic Day, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education in collaboration with the Iraqi Academics Union, the President of the University of Babylon, Professor Dr. Amin Al-Yasiri, participated in the festivities that drew a distinguished gathering of academics and parliamentary figures. In his speech, delivered on behalf of the Prime Minister, His Excellency Muhammad Shia a Al-Sudani, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, emphasized the importance of development as the cornerstone of academic performance. He highlighted the significant achievements of the ministry over the past two and a half years, including the establishment of the Scientific Research Authority, internationalization of education, aligning academic programs with global changes, securing the path of the Iraqi degree, and the rise of Iraq s scientific research index, as well as attracting over three thousand international students to Iraqi universities.
From his perspective, Professor Al-Yasiri expressed his deep appreciation for the pivotal role academics play in serving society. He underscored the efforts made by the University of Babylon to ensure their academic rights and enhance the frameworks of scientific research since he assumed the presidency. He also commended the ongoing attention shown by the Ministry of Higher Education, under the leadership of Minister Al-Aboudi, to improve the quality of academic performance, which contributes to achieving the educational institution s goals.
The celebration witnessed the presentation of letters of appreciation from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Higher Education to all employees of the ministry, in addition to honoring the University of Babylon and several distinguished professors. Among those honored were Professor Mushataq Talib Al-Khafaji, the head of the Iraqi Academics Union in Babylon, and Professor Amir Khudair Al-Nafaei, a wounded member of the Popular Mobilization Forces, who was awarded a shield by the Iraqi Academics Union on this occasion
