On Sunday, February 16, 2025, the University of Babylon organized a workshop titled "Mechanisms for Increasing the Global H-index," led by Assistant Professor Dr. Huda Sami Al-Hassan, the director of the Environmental Research and Studies Center, along with several faculty members including Dr. Farah Jassim, Assistant Professor Shaima Sati, and Assistant Sarab Azim.
The workshop was held under the patronage of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education for Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Haidar Abdul Dhiab, and the University President, Professor Dr. Amin Al-Yasiri, with the attendance of various deans, faculty members, and graduate students.
The university president opened the workshop by emphasizing the importance of the H-index in assessing the quality of scientific research and supporting faculty and researchers to achieve positive results in global rankings. The scientific assistant highlighted the competitive position of the University of Babylon in terms of research output compared to other universities.
The workshop addressed strategies for improving the H-index, with Dr. Ali Salah Hassan presenting data on the university s progress in this area. Additionally, Professor Ihsan Diaa Jawad and Dr. Ammar Ali Abdul discussed the necessity of publishing in prestigious scientific journals, enhancing collaboration with international researchers, and developing research infrastructure at the university.
Participants confirmed that a high H-index reflects research quality and enhances the university s academic reputation, contributing to improved standings in global rankings.
