The University of Babylon organized a celebration for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities under the theme "University of Babylon Celebrates Diversity," sponsored by the university president, Dr. Amin Ajil Yaser. The event was attended by prominent figures, including the Chief of Police of Babylon and the university s vice presidents.
In his speech, the university president emphasized the importance of supporting individuals with disabilities and their rights to education and community participation, highlighting that these individuals are an integral part of society. He stressed the need to create an inclusive educational environment that enhances their capabilities and helps them achieve their dreams.
Dr. Hawraa.Adel Nouri, head of the Disability and Special Needs Unit, also spoke about the significance of the event in raising awareness of the rights of this group. She mentioned the unit s efforts to provide a suitable environment for them and outlined several services approved by the university council to support their integration, such as issuing identification cards and providing transportation assistance.
The celebration featured various activities, including theatrical performances, awareness lectures, success stories, and recognition for students and staff with disabilities. Certificates of appreciation were distributed, showcasing the university s commitment to supporting this important segment of society and promoting a culture of inclusivity.
