The University of Babylon hosted the second edition of the Iraqi University Debate Championship, organized by the International Academy for Leadership and Development in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This event saw participation from universities such as Babylon, Al-Qassim Green, Al-Mustaqbal, and Hilla, under the supervision of Professor Amin Ajil Al-Yasiri, the university president. Notable attendees included Governor Adnan Faihan Al-Dulaimi and Deputy Dunya Al-Shammari.
In his speech, Dr. Al-Yasiri expressed his pride in hosting such a significant event that showcases the creativity of Iraqi students. He emphasized that these students bring innovative ideas and scientific theories that contribute to the ministry s developmental strategies. The debates foster intellectual communication between students from public and private universities, helping them develop skills in expression, discussion, persuasion, and self-confidence.
The forum aims to support various scientific and humanitarian disciplines studied by students, with 74 universities participating from 15 Iraqi provinces. Winning teams will have the opportunity to represent Iraq in international forums.
The International Academy for Leadership and Development has been collaborating with the Ministry of Higher Education for ten years, organizing numerous scientific forums. The academy believes that dialogue is essential for community development and an opportunity for exchanging experiences. It aims to elevate the value of discourse and nurture a generation capable of addressing contemporary challenges through critical thinking, ultimately empowering youth to become future leaders who can make a difference across various fields.
