The University of Babylon has achieved a remarkable milestone in the QS World University Rankings, securing the 86th position among 246 universities in the Arab region. This accomplishment places it ahead of 25 other Iraqi universities, according to the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2025.
The ranking is based on various indicators that reflect the quality of education and research. Academic reputation accounts for 30% of the overall score, followed by employer reputation at 20%. Other criteria include the faculty-to-student ratio (15%), international research network (10%), web impact (5%), percentage of faculty with PhDs (5%), citations per paper (5%), number of research publications per faculty member (5%), and both international faculty and student ratios (2.5% each).
These results signify a noteworthy advancement for Iraqi universities in the regional academic landscape, showcasing their ongoing efforts to enhance educational quality and research output
