Prof. Majid Ali Habib, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Hashim, from Faculty of Education for Pure Sciences, featured with Mr. Khaiser Mahdi Janie - the teacher at Babylon High School for boys - obtained a patent from the Central Authority for Standardization and Quality Control: recycling some of the natural waste and manufacturing two new types of overlapping materials used in thermal energy storage applications and sensors.

The patent included the preparation of two types of natural waste extracts: Willow Leaf Extract (Lew), Orange Leaf Extract (LEO), and preparation of two types of polyvinyl chloride.

The electrical properties of the polymer processors prepared for both types were studied, and the results showed that the electrical conductivity of the polymer mixture increased with the increase in the volumetric proportions of the additives; the optical properties were examined and the results showed that the optical absorbency of the mixture increases and the energy gap decreases with the increase in the volume ratios of prepared releases. Furthermore, both types of concentrations were applied in the storage and release of thermal energy, indicating that the heating and cooling time decreases with the increase in the volumetric proportions of the disposal used in heating the houses as well as for the refrigeration. Finally, both types of alignment were applied as moisture sensors, to show that polymers possessed high moisture sensitivity.
