Chancellor Letter

In the name of Allah the most Compassionate and Merciful
Infinite thanks are to Allah and the peace may be upon his chosen prophet who was sent for people as mercy and guide. Peace may also be upon his pure and honest household who are mediators for people in the Day of Judgment. Peace may be upon his companions, pioneers of people.
Then, People are proud of their trace and scientific heritage. Thus, we have to be proud of our ancient past which enlightened with knowledge and science. First letters to teach life reading and writing proceeded from ancient Babylon and rules for justice which were the candle to fill the ear were introduced in our country. This is our country in all generations which always communicates our bright past and this is approved by establishing our scientific heritage. University of Babylon, to be a true extension for science and art in the earth of civilizations. The university of Babylon extended in various ways where the number of the colleges during the year 2004-2005 increased to be 13 ones after establishing the two colleges; college of Agriculture and college of Administration and Statistics. College of Veternity and Collage of Nursery are also introduced. Work to improve the university centers and modify their achievement continues. Such centers are: Computer Center, Environment Center, Documents and Studies of Hilla, Babylonian Researches, and Everlasting Education Center. The university hopes to introduce new colleges to respond for the governorate need and the federation need. Thus, efforts were bestowed to exist college for Water Sources and Collage fro Computers and a study was presented to exist a college to be concerned with Islamic Studies. New scientific departments in colleges were also existed one of them is the Department of Electrochemical Engineering in the College of Engineering. The university also directs clear attention to start scientific conferences and meetings. So, more than one conference and meeting within this year were started and more than one meeting were concerned with the Iraqi constitution. The university stated training programs for employee and different fairs for arts. Championships and games were started in the university. As far as the teaching staffs are concerned, many scientists and rare specializations whether scientific or humanity are found in the university where the number of lecturers reaches 1233 during the year 2005-2006. They are distributed among the colleges and the departments. Concerning the construction in the university, many colleges are being built like College of Arts, College of Science for Girls, College of Medicine and Collage of Dentistry as well as establishing hostels for girls which are enough for the need of the university and they are also enough to contain the increasing number of the girl students. Also the substrata of 83 flats for the lecturers and employee. The university of Babylon is always sincere with all its efforts to serve the scientific and educational march in our beloved country and support all fields with specialist and academic staff of high proficiency. This is because of our concentration on type. Our teaching staff concentrate on preparing the students to be of a solid scientific ability to serve their country and improve its sources. We hope that our scientific and educational march will succeed and language of science spreads to let scientists be rulers of society as it is stated by on of the poets: People can not repair chious of no pioneers And no pioneers in case their idiots spread. And from Allah is our guide.
